Genjutsu (幻術, literally meaning: Illusionary Techniques) is one of the three main catergories for jutsu within the Ninja World alongside Ninjutsu and Taijutsu. The effect of Genjutsu aren't real they are sensory illusions that a user places upon their victims. Genjutsu falls under the rather broad category of Yin Release.
