"Why fight the current when you can control the charge?" - Hade
Hade (派手, "Flashy") is a lesser-known shinobi of Kumogakure and a self-taught master of Magnet Release. Despite his humble origins, he’s earned the alias The Polarity Phantom (極性の幻影, Kyokusei no Gen'ei).
Theme[]
Hade embodies the inherent duality of magnetism in both his abilities and his personality without being too direct or literal about the subject. His power to manipulate magnetic fields is a metaphor for his complex and volatile nature, which swings between two contrasting aspects of: intense and serene, in comparison to the controlled chaos he exhibits.
Personality[]
Hade is an eccentric and obnoxiously flashy individual. Ostentatious in every sense of the word. With an immutable desire for attention, he consistently seeks to both stand out and apart from any crowd he's placed in, in the most flamboyant manner possible. He takes extreme pride in his appearance and continuously obsesses over himself, writing it off as nothing more than simply, "Self Love".
Hade's character and personality embodies the inherent duality of a magnet . His power to manipulate magnetic fields seems almost metaphoric when compared to his complex nature which wildly swings between his two contrasting aspects: a flamboyant, charismatic attention-seeker on the positive end, while a volatile temper that can erupt in explosive anger and unpredictability on the opposite.
His personality shines through and is blatantly expressed within his combat style. Believing that beauty and style are at their peak when they're fleeting, flashy, and ephemeral. His techniques are grandiose and never fail to catch the eye. However, they generally only last but a moment before dissipating. Because of this, his battles are known to be rather short, visually captivating, extremely violent, and always memorable. This generally comes as a shock to most those who are unaware of his Intermittent Explosive Disorder.
Appearance[]
Hade is a 5'10 brown-skinned male originating from the Land Hidden by the Clouds. His caramel tones are strikingly contrasted by his crown of shoulder-length platinum blonde dreads, styled in a partial up-do with brown tapered sides, the remaining dreads draping down his back. With piercing gold eyes and matching platinum goatee adding to his distinct and commanding presence.
He sports a sleeveless, baggy black shirt beneath a custom weighted white flak jacket, strapped over one shoulder, its edges threaded in metallic gold. His black pants are wrapped with white cloth at the thighs, paired with black open-toed sandals. A gold-plated headband bearing the mark of Kumogakure hangs around his neck. A gold band encircles his upper left arm, and a solid gold staff is always upright on his back, reflecting his obsession with the precious metal.
Kekkei Genkai[]
Hade is a wielder of the revered Magnet Release (磁遁, Jiton, Viz: Magnet Style) Kekkei Genkai of Kumogakure. Albeit the ability being a bit of a rarity amongst the land, Hade elevates this ability to new heights through his unique and unconventional mastery, by employing his own unorthodox utilization of the art. In opposition to those who wielded the power in generations prior, with the primary focus on targeting and magnetizing projectile weapons to spread its influence, Hade utilizes his lightning release and takes advantage of a more "natural" phenomenon. Being that a lightning strike naturally possesses its own magnetic field, Hade is able to forgo the act of reliance on external physical touch, and expand the territory of his domain via the manipulation of an already pre-existent magnetic field imbued with his own chakra.
Although a powerful and rare ability, Magnet Release is scarcely found in Kumogakure. As one of the few users of this Kekkei Genkai in his generation, and with only a handful of predecessors in the village, Hade had little guidance in mastering his art. Entirely self-taught, his understanding of his Kekkei Genkai has led him to unknowingly deviate from the traditional techniques used by those before him.
Hade’s initial refinement of Magnet Release came as a result of his exhaustive research in Kumogakure’s archives. While there, he uncovered historical records revealing that Magnet Release was a highly advanced art in Sunagakure, with techniques that differed significantly from those in Kumo. The archives detailed scrolls and manuscripts outlining the use of Magnet Release in various historical battles and its evolution over time.
The boy, only around sixteen at the time, also discovered documents about the techniques employed by predecessors in both Sunagakure and Kumogakure. These records included detailed accounts of how Sunagakure’s Magnet Release was used for large-scale defensive and offensive strategies, while Kumogakure’s techniques focused more on precision and tactical applications. By analyzing and synthesizing this extensive knowledge, Hade was able to innovate and refine his own methods, integrating the strengths of both styles into a new, powerful approach.
With his enhanced understanding and improved techniques, Hade came to believe that his version of Magnet Release surpassed all others. Proudly and with considerable vanity, he declared himself the greatest Magnet Release user in shinobi history. Convinced and determined to go down in history as the one shinobi who would not be surpassed in his art.
A Change In Polarity - Advancing In Studies[]
As time passed, Hade's competency and proficiency in his art improved drastically as he neared the end of his teen years. By taking a more keen focus on not just his arts and the effects of them, the boy continuously delved deeper into the "why" and "how" aspects of his abilities. Being aware that he was able to magnetize anything was one thing, but understanding the principles of it were another. Coming to a conclusion that the combination of his Earth and wind release elements allowing him to both create and manipulate magnetic fields imbued with his own chakra . Inherently allowing the attributes of magnetism to be passed on to anything it touched. This understanding allowed him better strategical and tactical utilization of his skill. He quickly came to the conclusion with his newly accumulated amount of knowledge bought forth by academic studies of magnetism, polarity, and human anatomy, and relentless first hand training, that so long as an object possessed a physical component to it in some shape or form, it was all subject to him.
With this notion in mind, he quickly realized that it was the spreading and manipulation of these fields and his chakra that allowed anything within it's direct domain, to fall under his control. Synonymous to how a parasite continuously spreads itself and overtakes a host in various ways. This advancement led his skill-set focus to shift not only on the exterior magnetizing of his opponent's body, but also potentially their own chakra and various other internal workings imbued with his chakra.
This newfound transference feat was a two-fold benefit, granting near guaranteed attacks or assistance on an opponent or ally, while also allowing the disruption of their own chakra flow and bodily functions at Hade's will . This finding only further increased Hade's over-reliance upon his ability, causing him to continue his neglect of physical training outside of the realms and expectations of his rank. The reality of the situation from his perspective, is that he only needs a single hit, a single point of contact, and from that point on, even the strongest of adversaries would be at his mercy. Once an internal assault is within his parameters; resilience, durability, skill level, chakra reserves, and techniques all become irrelevant to the man. This skill, in conjunction with his rather impressive understanding of human anatomy, has also unknowingly laid the groundwork for following the paths of becoming a medical ninja or a genjutsu specialist in the future if he so chose.
Backstory[]
Born into an unremarkable household in the lower regions of Kumogakure, Hade was the product of two non-shinobi parents who lived a modest and rather secluded lifestyle. Their lack of prominence in the village meant that Hade’s existence, like theirs, went largely unnoticed. This also extended to his own hidden potential as the bearer of one of the rarest Kekkei-Genkai in the land, Magnet Release. A secret known only to his parents.
From an early age, Hade’s parents had been driven solely by their fear of the shinobi world. Demanding that the boy keep his abilities hidden at all times, even in their own home. They held the unfounded belied that revealing his powers would only draw him further into the life they desperately desired to shield him from. Because of this, Hade’s time at the academy was devoid of any real guidance in developing his Kekkei-Genkai. He was left with only the basic training given to all students, his unique talents remaining largely untouched and undeveloped, often remaining unremarkable and ranking last in his class in every attribute. They had only let him enroll in the academy to develop basic defense and survival skills, intending to cut anything farther than that out of his reach.
Hade’s early years were defined by this lack of recognition, a background character with unnoticed potential and abilities left unexplored. However, the Chunin Exams held unbeknownst to him, would be a pivotal moment in his career as a shinobi. Cornered, badly beaten, frustrated, and and left with his basic ninjutsu abilities falling short, Hade's temper quickly took over, overruling the only rule his parents set for him to truly abide by. For the first time, he utilized his Magnet Release in front of the entirety of both his village and the present spectators. A display of power so skillfully, yet unconventionally utilized, that despite him still not securing the victory, he managed to shatter the illusion of his mediocrity and garnish attention from those in the Shinobi ranks to properly foster and hone his skills further. For once, Hade had been in the spotlight for something other than his mediocrity. With this newfound support of the villagers and those of the upper dwelling areas of Kumo, Hade quickly honed his abilities, progressing rapidly through the ranks while doing so. By the age of sixteen, he had earned the title of Chunin; by eighteen, Jonin. Yet, despite his newfound status and skill, Hade remains without a squad to command.
Taijutsu[]
Given the nature of his Kekkei Genkai, Hade never viewed advanced hand-to-hand combat as an essential skill or benefit. A single touch could often determine the outcome of a battle, making close-quarters confrontation in all aspects a suicidal mission for his opponents. Consequently, Hade saw little value in refining his taijutsu beyond the standard expectations of his rank. This led to a somewhat paradoxical combat style: while his taijutsu skills remained average, the threat he posed in close combat was anything but.
Speed and Stamina[]
Handicapped by his own overreliance upon his Kekkei Genkai, Hade has never seen it fit to focus on the improvement of his natural speed or stamina. Because of this, he has remained average in almost every mobility aspect across the board. He has absolutely no outstanding remarks or feats of natural speed. In contrast however, despite his physical movements being rather average, his actual reflexes, perception, and reaction times are of the highest caliber. With the inner workings of his skillsets, Hade has never engaged any individual who had been able to exert enough pressure to push him out of comfort zone of his ability. Drawing in too near to him or any form of close combat is always swayed in his favor. Because of his controlled and strategical use of his lack of mobility, he generally does just fine in maintaining his stamina, even when winded on rare occasions.
Chakra Reserves[]
Hade's chakra reserves have always been just average for his age rank, a limitation that acted akin to an affliction that consistently hindered him throughout his upbringing in the mastery of his Kekkei Genkai. An average chakra bank is usually looked upon in a relatively decent lighting, however in Hade's case, the usage of his skillets requires significantly more chakra to utilize, so through his eyes, this proved as a deficit. His main ability contended with nature and genetics had provided to him.
This deficiency made even basic ninjutsu a formidable task. Often times leaving him lagging behind his peers. To compensate, he was forced to intensify his focus in the other ninja arts. Developing his skills in Bojutsu, and engaging in Strength and Endurance training to be able to hold his ground as a shinobi.
It hadn't been until well within his teens that Hade began to realize that his chakra limitations didn’t have to define him. He shifted his focus, embracing the challenge and honing his physical abilities to their peak. Through relentless training and ironclad discipline, Hade developed a combat style that relied on precision, power, and endurance, rather than chakra-heavy techniques. This allowed him to turn what was once a weakness into a formidable strength, surpassing many of his peers in areas they had neglected.
Chakra Control[]
With an innate skillset relying and revolving around the heavy utilization of chakra conflicting and clashing with the limitations onset by his average reservoirs of chakra, there was always an issue of inefficiency present in Hade's battle style. Hade had an understanding early on that if he truly desired to achieve the desired true mastery of his skillset, that the only means of doing so was to eliminate all waste involved within the process. As so, there was no difficulty in pinpointing the aspect of waste predominately residing in the amount of chakra input into a jutsu. With minimal input and maximum output, a balance that had been absent prior, became
Hade would continuously undergo self-imposed tedious and rather strange training sessions. Where, similar to a magnet, he would utilize his chakra control in order to force foreign objects to stick to his body throughout the entirety of the day. At the initiation of this training within his youth, he would utilize light weight smaller objects, such as a simple leaf. After achieving the general understanding of the refinement, he would increase the weight of the objects utilized. Progressively continuing to do so until enough proficiency had been accumulated as to where he could utilize his chakra control the have his 55kg solid gold staff stick to his back in place without the usage of a holster, effortlessly.
Albeit this method efficient, Hade was aware of the fact that control over his chakra had been bolstered, but not truly refined to the desired extent. By returning to the basics, he increased the number of objects that would be attached to his person to various scattered locations on his body, starting with the leaves once more. He would continuously work his way down to smaller and finer materials, such as flower petals. From flower pedals to thread. From threads to strands of hair, and so on. Eventually combining this method with the basics of water walking, and vertical mountain scaling on the lower outskirts of his village. By keeping a plethora of finer objects attached to his person the entirety of the day, his chakra control over the years had become masterful, and his precision surgical.
Implementing this learning into the chakra distribution required to maximize his jutsu, Hade's current standing and skill level is so proficient, that if one were to see him in his full glory on the battlefield, they would certainly overestimate the reserves that he truly possesses. This, coupled with his habit of initiating and releasing the majority of his techniques in the most flamboyantly ephemeral, yet efficient manner possible, leaves him with little worries of depleting his reserves amidst a battle.
Bojutsu[]
Hade is a master of Bojutsu in his own stylistic practices, wielding his solid gold staff with exceptional strength and skill. It remains his primary and preferred method of combat. Over the years, due to the nature of his fighting style and the frequent use of his magnetic arts, the staff has undergone a rather unintentional yet, unique transformation. The continuous exposure to his magnetic abilities has imbued the staff with its own magnetic properties, giving it polarized ends that Hade can manipulate with ease. This devlopment was the primary reason he was allowed to develop his unique form of Bojutsu he classifies as Kumogakure Bojutsu: Gendō.
This distinctive feature allows him to exert control over the battlefield, effortlessly attracting or repelling objects under his influence, while also enhancing his strikes with concentrated magnetic force. Furthermore, the polarized ends can be employed defensively, creating magnetic barriers or disrupting the trajectory of incoming attacks.
Because of the acquired magnetic attribute, Hade also holds the capability of controlling his staff without the need for physical contact, allowing him to wield it as a weapon from nearly any distance. This enables him to strike or defend with the staff while simultaneously executing other techniques, effectively turning it into an extension of his will. Whether in close combat or at range, he is able to unleash a flurry of unpredictable and precise attacks, making his fighting style both formidable, unpredictable, and visually striking.
The staff’s conductive properties allow Hade to channel electricity directly through it, enhancing his strikes with shocking force. Additionally, he is able to use the staff as a medium for his Wind and Earth techniques. In Hade's hands, the staff is far more than just a weapon, but rather more so of an extension of his elemental mastery, capable of delivering crushing blows, unleashing waves of elemental force, and dominating the battlefield.Trivia[]
