Inugami Iori (犬上伊織, Iori Inugami) more known as Doctor Inugami (犬神博士, Inugami Hakase) is a medical-nin hailing from the Rain District. He works as a surgeon in the Amegakure Hospital and is also a doctor for hire for civilians who can't get to the hospital. While he is one of the few medical ninjas who are capable of operating on the battlefield, his work does not always focus on humans because he also likes to help animals in need. Growing up in the orphanage along with several dozen other orphaned children, Inugami picked-pocket and sold goods to buy supplies to help his sick adopted brothers and sisters, but most of them died before he could save them, their deaths made the boy want to become a doctor so no one will suffer under his care.

The sky over the rain district was always weeping. Dark clouds loomed low, shrouding the city in an endless veil of gray. For those who called this land home, the rain was more than a weather pattern; it was a reminder—of pain, of loss, and of the past that shaped the present. This was a place where dreams drowned and where the innocent learned to fear the weight of tears.
Amidst the alleys and old, shattered buildings left behind and abandoned, there stood a crumbling structure known as the Orphanage of Angels. Its name was a cruel irony. Though named for the hope it was meant to represent, it was a place where the remnants of the Hidden Rain’s tragedies were gathered—the war orphans, the abandoned, and the unwanted. And among them, a lone boy stood out: Inugami Iori, the child with the eyes of wolves. Iori’s story began long before he ever took his first breath, written in the blood spilled by his parents. His father, Saburo Iori, was once a jōnin of the stone district, a shinobi loyal to his homeland, until he met a kunoichi from the Rain District during a mission on foreign soil. Her name was Hina, a woman as fierce and relentless as the storms of her homeland. Against the odds, what began as a forbidden encounter became something far more powerful. Saburo fell in love and, driven by a desire to escape his life of infiltrating, sabotaging and bring down other districts that'll benefit his homeland, betrayed the Rock City to be with her.
They fled to the Rain, seeking refuge in the chaos of the warring nations. There, they found a brief semblance of peace. Hina, already heavy with child, and Saburo, casting aside his past for a chance at a new beginning, believed they could start again. But no sin goes unpunished. As Hina struggled through a brutal and stormy night to bring their son into the world, Saburo was betrayed and slain by the same Stone City hunters he once called comrades. They caught him unarmed, cut him down, and left his body as a message for those who would dare follow in his footsteps.
Hours later, Hina bled out alone in her home, clutching her newborn son. With her last breath, she gave him his name—Iori, meaning “solitary one”—before the darkness claimed her.
Iori was discovered by the Rain District’s Orphanage of Angels—an institution known for its mercy and indoctrination of the village’s orphans. With rise of conflict around the world after its cataclysmic event, the orphanage became a breeding ground for indoctrinating lost children into the Rain City’s new militant order. The staff referred to Iori as the Inugami, or Dog Spirit, due to his wild eyes and strange resilience. Where other children withered under the harsh treatment, Iori endured. He never cried, even when punished, never begged, even when starved. There was a warmth in his eyes, showing his orphan brethren affection and kindness even though he grew up under the world’s cruelty.
Iori carried the weight of his parents’ dreams and failures. Though he had no memory of them, the blood of a traitor and an outcast flowed in his veins. It made him an outcast even among the unwanted—a pariah among pariahs. Inugami and the few friends he befriended, gathered with the orphans to huddle together for warmth and comfort, watching the rain pour down through the cracked windows of the orphanage’s abandoned chapel.

Inugami is a straightforward, confident, and logical individual, who is also aware of the limits of his abilities. His decisions are often backed up by his vast knowledge of medical-oriented techniques. He never belittles those who are less knowledgeable than him, however, he does have a habit of diving into complicated explanations in an attempt to teach others. Because of his charisma and caring nature, people tend to gather around him, allies and enemies alike. Inugami is also able to admit his mistakes, for example, if he misses important information. He regularly bends the rules, withholds information, and manipulates others to get what he wants. He often acts as if he builds inventions and uses people for his own interest while creating for the betterment of others. Beneath Inugami's outward arrogance and manipulative actions lies a genuinely selfless and kind heart. His greatest weakness is his inability to abandon his friends and the rule that no medic ninja shall ever stop medical treatment until the lives of their patients have come to an end.
Inugami enjoys catching up with friends and coworkers outside of work, especially at Mizoguchi's Seafood Shack, a seafood joint he often visits for some of his favorite meals. He shows politeness by offering to pay for his friend's dinner, has a quick chat about lost artifacts, studies the history of many warriors who became village leaders and tyrants and leaves a legacy. Inugami is very socially interactive with those around him, bringing a sense of tranquility with his presence although for others, he's gained quite the fans by just being sweet to them. Inugami is quite the sweet talker himself when he's out, flirty with any female and male he finds attractive but prays that she doesn't have a boyfriend, showing how uncomfortable he is with other people stringing along in the relationship, tends to get protective and possessive of the person he's interested in. According to Inugami, the genins that took part in the exams are the hope of the Shinobi world, a bridge that must be supported by those who will act as the pillars of that future. This belief made him hopeful and determined in his idealism that it extended through his actions, such as risking life-threatening injuries to save a child from a salamander.
Appearance[]
A handsome man with attractive features, Inugami wears glasses over his dark blue eyes, which causes him to get into situations with women around the village and in hospitals who will flirt with him or ask him out. As a medic-nin, he suffered from a pale skin complexion due to living in a continuously cloudy and rainy climate, which made him look sickly most of the time, but he enjoyed his district's namesake and history. The medical ninja stands at around 5 feet 8 inches with an impressive build that makes his stature more impressive with how he takes care of himself, especially on the battlefield, he keeps his body in shape to do long hours. Inugami has shoulder-length dark blue hair that he keeps neatly combed with bangs framing his face, some of the hair he has pulled back into a low ponytail but mainly does this at work and keeps his hair down at home. He wears a dark blue pinstriped zippered shirt, navy blue pants with wrappings on the left upper leg, and a slightly larger pouch where he keeps his medical supplies and ninja tools. He wears a dark blue fur cloak.
Chakra & Physical Prowess[]
Inugami possesses quite a tremendous amount of chakra and mastery control of his reserves to perform complicated or collaborative jutsu with another partner who is performing with him. As a genin, Inugami was well-versed in ninjutsu and was capable of using standard medical ninjutsu to heal and help his teammates recover from other injuries, augment his speed by applying chakra to his feet or augment his strength to deliver a deadly strike that'll crack a boulder. His master, Fumihito Sensei has noted that Inugami's aptitude is well-suited for medical ninjutsu and ninjutsu, as shown when the boy creates several clones to apply some healing assistance to others in need showing how his proficiency with chakra control. Inugami trained under his master Fumihito for five long years practicing and learning medical ninjutsu that developed into his arsenal, and even his chakra expanded to his young adult years as chunin, capable of performing medical techniques much longer, and his reserves could last through most of the day before collapsing from exhaustion. Training under his master and wife for over two extra years has refined and strengthened his control over an already impressive chakra control, becoming the catalyst of many techniques he possesses.
Ninjutsu[]
Inugami's skill in ninjutsu is mid in terms of arsenal number, having picked up some and made techniques down the road allowed him to expand and be able to get creative. Inugami's natures include water, lightning, and yang release. He is capable of using Water Release to traverse the waters by creating a water chameleon, and cooperating with two categories to create "Medical Water Release" which he primarily uses for medical uses, employ water with other natures to create more defensive tactics. Inugami can utilize Lightning Release to create pink lightning from his hand or use shape transformation to change the shape of the lightning from his hand into senbon with a pink hue, using these to hit a pressure point and halt the movements of an opponent.
Iryōjutsu[]
Inugami Iori has made being a medic his livelihood, his path to saving lives instead of taking them. Inugami spent most of his years abroad with his master, Fumihito Yamagata, a master of medical ninjutsu who has made numerous requests to have the boy trained in their districts but unfortunately taken the boy on an unorthodox journey while going through training. During his first stay in the sound district, his master remarked on how skilled he was being able to perform medical techniques and providing healing to an injured fawn during and after surgery, resuscitating someone from death after witnessing them go through a dangerous scene, saving a boy from drowning but performing medical ninjutsu on most injuries, however, his teachings were mostly textbooks. Inugami would after his master's, having learned the body pathway derangement technique then utilize it to prevent his foes from escaping arrest. When dealing with an enemy, Inugami uses his medical ninjutsu as a way to damage the body with his knowledge of anatomy and its vital points he can exploit such as targetting the carotid artery with some of his steel or lightning senbon that'll pierce through and injure his adversary, giving him much time to deal more significant damage to the body.
At age 25, Inugami's medical skills have grown greatly since he departed from the rain district with his master, now, he has returned home with extensive knowledge as a medic-nin to perform tasks without having a breakdown on what to do. He is capable of utilizing his medical tools to perform surgeries on a person, knowing the human anatomy, vital organs, and pressure points he can hit to hinder or keep an enemy from escaping while for patients, he only uses when they are risking their own health
Fūinjutsu[]
Around the age of nineteen, Inugami had grown into the subject of fuinjutsu, but due to his master's rigorous training and travel across most of the shinobi districts, he didn't have the opportunity to properly research fuinjutsu until he was twenty. He found some old fuinjutsu in an abandoned infrastructure east of the Sand District when he was twenty. Inugami would study these seals for only two months before handing them over to the Shirogane Clan before departing from the district with his master, he would find more additional fūinjutsu detailed books in the leaf district where he learned how to apply simple seals to store items on a scroll or his body. He would begin to create his formula after examining the history of the Legendary Sannin, all of them showing their skill in fūinjutsu but learning that their arsenal is restricted and locked away from prying eyes. Inugami would travel across the districts, slowly developing his fūinjutsu, a prototype that he had experimented on several large toads he asked to use which they allowed, the seal proved to work on targets with five tangible salt water chains to grasp upon and drag them into the by a spirit whale seal. Inugami would learn several barrier ninjutsu and chakra suppression on enemies or add them to a seal already in place.
