Rekkai Terumi is a Jonin of the Hidden Mist village, serving both as leader of the Hunter-nin and assistant to the current Mizukage: Isamu Chinoike. She serves her village well, assassinating those who would dare do it harm or desert their duties. Now standing alongside Isamu, she hopes her position will give her a greater reach to mold the Land of Water into the strongest nation it can possibly be.

Rekkai was a bright girl with an even brighter future, but in all her brightness was naive: ignorant to the world and how quickly and swiftly it would seek to expunge that light. She boasted of strength and its merit, its necessity - yet in all her industriousness, failed to comprehend how sorely she lacked in that of which she preached… Until she didn’t. Hers was a tale all too common - the prodigal child with the world ahead who, slighted and snuffed by ingenuous inadequacy, fell pawn to fate and lost it all.
Born to the well renowned Terumi clan and one of few in her lineage who- like the long passed fourth Mizukage -possessed the innate affinity for two kekkei genkai, the girl was destined for certain greatness. The formative years of her early youth were without hardship, spoiled and sheltered as her parents’ only child - and a tenacious one, at that. She spent little time with her mother, a medical nin who’d retired after Rekkai came along and instead ran the family hot springs. She and her father, however, were near inseparable. Whenever he was home and idle, the girl begged him to practice with her. Naturally, he obliged. She took well after her father, nurturing the instinctive affinity for two handed weaponry - primarily utilizing tonfa, the same as her father. Their trainings focused mostly on kenjutsu, taijutsu, and shuriken jutsus. Lava style ninjutsu was far too dangerous to learn at her age and he promised to teach her when she was ready.
By the time she had earned the rank of genin, she far outclassed most of her peers. While certainly some of this gap was from innate talent, it was her unrelenting drive and unyielding dedication to her training and growth that so set her apart from the rest. Her strengths had already caught the eyes of the village’s top brass, who saw her as a potential candidate for either Kabutowari or Hiramekarei pending her continued growth as she flourished into a full fledged kunoichi. When rumor of this caught Rekkai’s ear, it only bolstered her already unfettered arrogance.
She was quickly displeased by her genin team placement: the Koshu twins, Akio and Ayame, who thought being a shinobi was ‘fun’; led by Hisashi Sato who forbid her from using either of her kekkei genkai on missions for the “risks” they posed. Anger waged war in her heart and she distanced herself from her team as much as she could. She trained alone and spent her time alone; she worked independently on missions, caring not for whatever thinly veiled “teamwork” they had concocted. Troublesome, Hisashi had called her. Unable to reign the girl in, he complained to his superiors and requested for squad placements to be reevaluated. The request was swiftly denied. In their eyes, the Jonin should have had no trouble gaining the respect and obedience from a mere nine year old girl.
For better or worse, her time with Team 12 crested only just passed the one year mark. It all changed with what was to be a simple C Rank mission. The quartet was assigned to investigate a series of bandit attacks that were plaguing a small group of villages in the Land of Water - and eradicate them if it was within the bounds of both the mission and their capabilities.
Personality[]
The simplest way to describe Rekkai is prideful, arrogant and crass. She respects strength above all else and stubbornly refuses to acknowledge her own glaring weaknesses. She’ll do anything to maintain her status at the top of her food chain. With a sharp tongue and a sharper blade, her presence is not to be taken lightly. That, alongside a life of torturous trainings and assassinations, Rekkai’s bloodlust is oftentimes insatiable, driving her mad until enough blood is spilt to tide her over.
While there is a softer side to the woman, few to none have ever bore witness to the phenomena. Though she cares deeply for both her hunters and for those who name Kirigakure home, Rekkai has a peculiar way of showing it.

Rekkai possesses only a standard IQ. She is no encyclopedic historian or strategist with an eidetic memory. In most lights, her intelligence is only average to most her age with similar conditioning or experiences. In terms of intelligence, the only facet in which she ranks far above most is in terms of psychology and in criminal behaviors and tendencies. She is quick to see through facades and root out the real meaning behind words and actions. Rekkai is adept at lying and manipulating her quarry when need be, but her greatest feats of intelligence lie in the hunt. Years spent hunting criminals and patterning their behaviors sets her above the rest when it comes to foreseeing their steps and plots.
