Ren Yamatori[]
"I am a child of the wind, my wings need not be clipped for I will always fly back."
Ren Yamatori (Yamatori Ren, 山鳥 蓮) is a member of one of the cadet branches of the Yamatori Clan, kunoichi of Kirigakure, and Hunter-nin of the secretive Genshoku Program.
Background[]
Second daughter of Saishū and Tori Yamatori, Ren had fully expected to stay within her clan's island of Yashigakure and act as a guard for the main branch. She would sometimes fill in for Kabuki roles when needed, otherwise training to protect the main branch actors.
When her older sister Ro was killed in action, Ren was selected to replace her as Aka in the Genshoku Program. Ren was placed into the academy and, upon graduation, was placed on Saya Senge's team with two others, all members of the Genshoku Program. When not on missions, Ren was broken down and rebuilt as a tool for the Genshoku Program and Kirigakure.
Because of her extensive and harsh training, Ren quickly became a chunin and then jonin, joining the ANBU and taking on the role of the Hunter-nin Aka.
She has trained and continues to train the next generations of the Genshoku Program.
Personality[]
For a while, Ren presented herself as cold and serious, and that tends to be the case when speaking with those of high rank and outsiders. Her family and students, however, get to see the more laid back, joke cracking side of Ren. She has become quietly prideful of her abilities and will play with her food if she's able to. The longer the opponent fights, the more intel to get, after all.
As Aka, Ren is emotionless, near silent, and prepared to do whatever is necessary to complete her mission.
Appearance[]
Tall than average for women, Ren ties her black hair up into either a ponytail or bun. She has black eyes. When she was younger Ren would wear grey traditional garbs, kimonos and dresses. As a teenager, she wore a grey short kimono style dress, her hiate tied around her throat. Only when she became an adult did Ren start wearing purple.
Her Shinobi outfit is a long purple kimono style dress with a long slit on the right leg side. She wears an under sleeveless and shorts onesie with mesh over her chest, touched with red. Around the waist is a wide black belt with red rope to hold her large war fan. She wears chainmail thigh highs and knee high black shinobi shoes. Around both wrists are red beads. On her right thigh is a pouch for a summoning scroll for equipment.
Ren's large war fan has four purple clouds on it.
As Aka, Ren's mask has red swirls on it. Her uniform is edited to include two long light blue cloth slabs. On her lower back she carries several scrolls, one of which carries an entire avalanche. She uses two hand war fans, both colored almost white with light blue swirls.
Abilities[]
Wind Release: Ren's natural affinity is Wind Release, much like the rest of her Clan. This is why she uses a War Fan.
Water Release: As a Shinobi of Kirigakure, Ren was expected to use Water Release.
Pseudo Ice Release: Because of her clan's ability to add Yang Release to their elemental natures, Ren is able to create a Pseudo Ice Release. Not as strong as the Yuki Ice Release, Ren can only access it when using her War Fans.
Tessenjutsu: Ren is extremely and incredibly skilled in using War Fans. Her large fan is used for massive and heavy wind related attacks, creating large tornados, downbursts, and even drawing air out of an area to create a vacuum. Her small fans are used for precise and deadly cutting techniques that can slice through most armor and body parts, perfect for silent assassinations.
Her large War Fan is decorated with four purple clouds, each cloud representing a combat style:
- One Cloud: Very fast and focused Attacks, meant to cause damage to specific areas.
- Two Clouds: Very fast and focused Defense, moves wind and air to create hardened sections to protect from attacks.
- Three Clouds: Heavy and wide spread Defense, meant to protect Ren and her allies. Is able to remove oxygen from the surrounding area to nullify incoming Fire and Wind Nature attacks.
- Four Clouds: Heavy and wide spread Offense and Defense, is able to remove oxygen from large areas and draw out Wind Nature from attacks to nullify them. Focuses on AOEs to cause incredible and extensive damage to surroundings.
Her hand War Fans are used for folded and unfolded combat styles:
- Near Folded: Near silent techniques used for slicing and dicing, can decapitate someone from about a mile away.
- Half Folded: Wind, air, and oxygen drawing abilities, meant to suffocate opponents and nullify jutsus.
- Near Unfolded: Main combat usage, close and far range, meant to destabilize an opponent.
- Unfolded: Used for heavy attacks, such as gales and storms.
However, Ren's reliance on her War Fans has caused her to lapse in her hand signs, making her slower than the average ANBU while using them.
