The Tomogui Clan (共食い, Cannibalism) is a mythical clan that is rumored to not exist within the Demon District and is unknown to outside lands; Even in their own land, very few individuals actually believe their existence is real ever since the curse placed on their clan was activated.

Centuries ago, hidden in the corner of the Demon District, there existed a once-ordinary clan of humans known as the Herajika Clan. They were known for their close-knit community and their strong bonds with each other, living peacefully alongside other clans within the district. The Herajika Clan, for generations, was a symbol of harmony and unity within the Demon District. However, their tranquil existence took a dark turn due to a fateful altercation involving their leader, Keres Tomogui. Keres, a respected and formidable figure among her people, found herself in a mysterious confrontation with an enigmatic, powerful individual whose identity remained shrouded in secrecy. The encounter left Keres grievously cursed, transforming her life in a horrifying manner. The nature of this curse, a formidable jutsu rumored to be Otsutsuki in origin, rendered Keres incapable of consuming normal sustenance. Starvation gnawed at her, and her growing desperation pushed her to the edge of survival. As her condition deteriorated, Keres made a heart-wrenching decision born of desperation—she resorted to cannibalism to quell her gnawing hunger. This act, driven by despair, triggered an even more potent and sinister curse that would afflict the entire Herajika Clan. The curse, a relentless and remorseless entity, had lain in wait for an opportune moment to awaken and seize control.
The only visible alterations they bore were their eerie eyes, which no longer held pupils but rather the sinister glow of ancient kanji, ominous symbols of the curse that had ensnared them. This curse endowed them with a grotesque transformation, a monstrous hybrid of man and deer, the likeness of a wendigo cryptid. These changes did not come without their own abilities. The Tomogui Clan the name they now went by, possessed the dreaded Osoregan, a formidable dojutsu that manipulated the deepest fears of their adversaries, causing hallucinations and paranoia. Their terrifying presence could conjure nightmarish creatures, embodying the monstrous tales of wendigo folklore. In times of dire need, the Tomogui could even unleash a fearsome transformation, harnessing the strength of their wendigo-like nature to become formidable combatants. One of the most gruesome aspects of their cursed nature was their ability to regenerate their limbs and heal wounds during battle after consuming flesh. This grotesque adaptation served as a twisted reminder of the curse's relentless grip, a constant battle between their humanity and the insatiable hunger that plagued their cursed existence.
The Tomogui Clan's origins were now veiled in darkness and a tragic history that echoed through the generations as a somber and chilling cautionary tale. Their existence was a testament to the harrowing consequences of desperation and the power of ancient curses, a living embodiment of the terror that could be unleashed within the mysterious realm of the Demon District. Though, most believe this clan doesn't exist and is just a tale to scare children and outsiders as no one knows they now go by the Tomogui clan aside from their allied clan, the Kengans. Due to this, they have also had a mutual agreement that they will help each other as well as not eat the kengans so as long as they didn't reveal the true identity of the Tomogui clan and kept their existence rumored. However, in case of betrayal this clan kept their dojutsu a secret and under no circumstances revealed their Osoregan to any other clan.

The clan is still thriving and searching for a way to end the curse, but due to recent disappearances within the land. No-one is willing to even go to Yūrei forest, many believe this clan to be extinct since their curse began since no-one saw them anymore; However, they only know that disappearances happen within the very forest where this clan now resides. For this reason, they still remain a clan that is simply a myth amongst the Demon District, and is MOSTLY unknown to others outside of the Demon District as only stories of them surface, and with no real proof they exist, this clan is deemed as nothing but an old folks tale. The clan has become very territorial over the years and will only create alliances with those who can be useful to them or have mutual benefits from each other due to that alliance; However, they absolutely do not tolerate ANY other animal based clans within their territory and will cause chaos on anyone who threatens their way of life and impede on their hunting grounds. Over time, they divided into two distinct branches, each dealing with the curse in their own way. These two branches, the Kirai and Shitai branches, found their own paths to survival and existence within the broader world of the Hidden Villages and the Demon District.
Kirai Branch: The Kirai branch of the Tomogui Clan fully embraced the curse that had plagued their existence. They unapologetically indulged in the insatiable hunger for human flesh, feeding on living humans without remorse. They reveled in the malevolent power of the curse, allowing it to shape their lives. These members remained predominantly within the Demon District, the very heart of their curse, where they felt a stronger connection to their wendigo-like nature. Life in the Demon District was one of darkness and secrecy. The Kirai branch maintained a clandestine existence, venturing out into the world of ninja to fulfill their dreadful hunger for human flesh. They hid in the shadows, seeking out unsuspecting prey, their eerie eyes filled with sinister intent. It was a life of fear and malevolence, as they perpetuated the curse that had ensnared their clan.
Shitai Branch: The Shitai branch of the Tomogui Clan took a radically different path. These individuals had managed to exert some degree of control over their curse, enabling them to consume the flesh of the dead rather than the living. They had harnessed the curse's power to a certain extent, gaining a degree of resistance to the maddening hunger that had gripped their kin. Unlike the Kirai branch, the Shitai branch found solace and relative normalcy within various districts. While they did not completely abstain from human flesh, their consumption of the dead was less malevolent and frenzied. Some members of the Shitai branch resided within the Demon District, while others ventured into the broader world, blending in as ordinary people, all the while harboring their dark secret. The Shitai branch, however, remained cautious and aware of the curse that lingered within them, knowing that a moment of weakness could unleash their insatiable hunger once more. They sought to maintain control over their wendigo-like nature, treading a precarious line between humanity and monstrosity. Within the Mist District, a select few members of the Kirai branch took refuge in a secluded cave. Here, they lived in isolation, away from the watchful eyes of the Demon District, their existence veiled in mystery and darkness. This cave served as a sanctuary for their malevolent cravings, hidden from the world of shinobi and civilians. The Mist District's chilling atmosphere was a fitting backdrop for their existence, as they lurked in the shadows, ever-hungry and ever-fearful of losing control.
The Tomogui Clan, divided between the Kirai and Shitai branches, continued to navigate the curse that had reshaped their lives. Their existence was a testament to the resilience and darkness that could coexist within a clan's heritage, forever struggling to find balance between their humanity and the monstrous hunger that lurked within.

The healing capabilities of this clan far outmatch almost any other clan KNOWN in the shinobi world, however there is a catch to their amazing capabilities to fully heal at high speeds, even in the midst of battle. The more a Tomogui Clan member commits cannibalism, their abilities to heal stays at it's peak; Thus using the power of cannibalism to successfully heal instead of using chakra itself, which is capable of healing injuries such as broken bones and even twisted limbs. However, if a clan member doesn't commit it as much, their regenerative capabilities will be weakened to a point of barely being able to heal from a mere shuriken wound; And if one stops altogether, their body will be completely taken over by the curse acting as a ghost possessing its host; While the host is fully aware of what they're doing, they won't be able to stop. Though, when it comes to regrowing severed limbs, their unique bodies allow them to absorb human flesh, and use that as a medium to regrowing their own limbs. However, unlike the cannibalistic/devouring trait, this form of healing isn't instant and instead takes time to fully regrow the limb(s).
